Patients benefit from access to state of the art diagnostic and treatment services. Our clinicians are at the forefront of research into rheumatology disease, imaging, early arthritis, osteoporosis and education.
Research
The Rheumatology Centre is a national leader for clinical trials for new therapies to treat a range of rheumatology problems. This means many patients have the opportunity to take part in a clinical trial, meaning that they may be one of the first people to benefit from a new treatment. We have a dedicated team of over ten research nurses and support staff delivering care to the patients in our clinical trials.
Education
The Rheumatology Centre is a training site for specialist rheumatology doctors in the West Midlands region, and is also a teaching hospital of the University of Birmingham. We also support the training of student nurses from the University of Wolverhampton.
