The department provides evidence-based help and advice inpatients, outpatients and community patients following referral from an appropriate Healthcare Professional. We work closely with other clinical teams eg gastroenterology, paediatrics, renal, cystic fibrosis, and also the catering department to ensure that meals provided for hospital patients meet nutritional standards.
The service provides a training programme for up to six student dietitians per year on clinical placement from Coventry University as well as education and training for other staff and patients.
We have specialist dietitians who work in specific fields such as:
- Nutrition support
- Critical care
- Cystic Fibrosis
Our nutrition nurses provide advice and education on placement of enteral feeding tubes, and nursing management of adult patients receiving enteral tube feeding. They also respond to and advise the primary care health teams on any tube feeding problems in adult patients. They can be contacted on 01902 695336.
