Breastfeeding Support Workers

Our Breastfeeding Support Workers offer information and support to breastfeeding women and their families.

Many women feel a little apprehensive and unsure about feeding their baby in the early days, so really appreciate the emotional support and practical guidance that they provide.

Support Workers provide support and information on how to get breastfeeding started, responsive feeding, expressing breastmilk for your baby and avoiding feeding problems in the future.

They also run informative, interactive antenatal sessions, which give parents-to-be impartial, evidence-based information on infant feeding, which can be useful to new parents to help them decide how they wish to feed their baby.

Click here for more information about the interactive antenatal sessions.

Our Breastfeeding Support Workers are:

Ruth Parkes and Rachel Priestley who will make every effort to contact each breastfeeding mother after the birth of her baby.

It is simple to contact us during your stay at New Cross – just ask a member of staff if you’d like us to visit you.

If we miss you, you'll find our contact details in the information pack given to you during your stay in the Maternity Ward.
