I have a specialist interest in advanced endoscopy and endoscopy training. I am the Director of the West Midlands Regional Endoscopy Training Centre (based at New Cross) delivering 20 endoscopy training courses per year to improve the quality of endoscopy locally and nationally. I am also a Bowel Cancer Screening colonoscopist and assessor and sit on the National Advisory Committee for Bowel Cancer Screening & the Bowel Cancer Screening Accreditation Panel. I am the current QA (Quality Assurance) lead for the West Midlands Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. I also have an active role in the Joint Advisory Group for GI Endoscopy (JAG) which plays a critical role in the quality assurance of endoscopy units and individual endoscopists within the UK.
I also have an interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and was awarded a PhD (Nottingham University 2001) having researched ulcer healing in IBD.
Beside specialty interests, I am Associate Medical Director for Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust with a lead role in consultant appraisal and revalidation.
