Welcome to the West Midlands Endoscopy Training Centre at Wolverhampton.
The training centre is integrated within the endoscopy unit and is based in a purpose built day case facility, the Beynon Centre, at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.
The endoscopy unit was refurbished in 2013 providing a state of the art training facility.
The West Midlands Endoscopy Training Centre at Wolverhampton has been delivering endoscopy training courses for over 20 years and was one of ten original Regional Endoscopy Training Centres developed within England. We deliver over 25 JAG approved courses per year.
We also run JAG approved courses from two affiliated hospitals: Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (led by Dr Mark Smith) & King's Mill Hospital, Mansfield (led by Mr Paul Hagan).
We currently provide a full range of standard JAG courses (Basic Upper and Lower GI Endoscopy, Flexible sigmoidoscopy courses to support Bowelscope, Training the Trainer courses as well as a number of specialist courses including: Polypectomy (both porcine model and patient courses), Colonoscopy Upskilling and the Pre-Bowel Cancer Screening Accreditation Course. We are one of 4 assessment centres for Bowel Cancer Screening Accreditation in the UK.
We also offer courses for nurses in areas such as EMR and we are an established centre for GIN training.
