Endoscopy Nurse Practitioner
I am a Registered Nurse (RGN) and non-medical prescriber and for the majority of my career I have worked at The Dudley Group of Hospitals and Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trusts. I was the Ward Sister of a GI & breast surgical ward before becoming a Matron working in both surgical and medical specialties.
In Jan 2013, I joined the Gastroenterology team as an Endoscopy Nurse Practitioner and trained to carry out Lower GI endoscopy, both for the symptomatic service and as part of the team delivering the Bowelscope (Bowel Cancer Screening) service. I am the Nurse Representative on the National Bowel Cancer Screening Accreditation Panel.
I contribute to training courses run by the West Midlands Regional Endoscopy Training Centre, based at New Cross Hospital as part of the Internal Faculty. I also participate in the work of the Joint Advisory Group for GI Endoscopy (JAG) QA team for training endoscopists as one of the Nurse representatives.
I am always keen to be involved the development of the Endoscopy service and contribute to looking at new ways of working and how Nurse Practitioners can support the growing service needs.
