The endoscopy service at The Royal Wolverhampton Trust is based across two sites at New Cross Hospital and Cannock Chase Hospital. The Beynon Centre at New Cross was refurbished in 2013 and has four endoscopy rooms that deliver a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including ERCP, EUS (endoscopic ultrasound) and Capsule Endoscopy. The Endoscopy Unit at Cannock Chase opened in April 2015. This state of the art unit offers another three endoscopy rooms for diagnostic procedures such as Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy and Flexible Sigmoidoscopy. We perform over 18,000 endoscopy procedures annually across both sites.
Our services cover a wide geographical area. We care for patients primarily from Wolverhampton and Cannock, but also from Dudley, Walsall, South Staffordshire peninsula and surrounding areas.
The Beynon Centre is a Regional Training Centre teaching both medical and nursing staff. Accredited courses are offered on a number of different procedures. More information can be found on the Train With Us page.
The Beynon Centre was the first Endoscopy Unit in the Country to commence Bowel Cancer Screening in 2006 and continues to be at the forefront of screening initiatives. In June 2013 the Bowel Cancer Screening centre became a pilot site for Bowel Scope Screening in partnership with Russells Hall Hospital.
