Gastroenterology is a branch of medicine that focuses on the digestive system.
We have a number of services within Gastroenterology including Endoscopy, Dietetics, Liver Services, Inflammatory Bowel Disease Service and Alcohol Liaison. We also do an extensive amount of research.
In 2015 the Trust opened its brand new, state of the art three room endoscopy unit at Cannock Chase Hospital, to serve the population of Cannock, Wolverhampton and the surrounding areas.
At New Cross, we are able to offer more of our inpatient services to those who really need them and now have a purpose built 28-bed Gastroenterology ward.
We are a large team with extensive experience and we strive to deliver the best Gastroenterology service in the UK. As a nationally recognised JAG accredited service, we are at the forefront of innovation, offering procedures such as Halo and Spyglass. Furthermore, the department incorporates the West Midlands Endoscopy Training Centre offering both mandatory and upskilling JAG accredited courses (Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy).
