We provide a wide range of family-friendly audiology services for babies, children and young people.
The Children’s Hearing Team is comprised of Paediatric Audiologists (scientifically and technically trained professionals in hearing and balance problems) and a Consultant in Audiovestibular Medicine (a medical doctor with specialist training in hearing and balance disorders).
Our work mainly involves hearing, balance and tinnitus assessment and advice, together with specialised hearing aid fitting and evaluation using advanced digital technology.
Our multi-disciplinary approach enables us to work closely with Ear Nose and Throat, Speech and Language, Sensory Inclusion (Educational Audiologist and Teachers of the Deaf), Paediatricians and Social Services teams.
Referrals are accepted from General Practitioners (GPs), Paediatricians, School Nurses, Health Visitors and other professionals.
Parents and carers who want to request a hearing test should contact their Family Doctor, School Nurse or Health Visitor to request a referral to us.
Faulty Hearing Aids can be brought in at any time during The Gem Centre’s opening hours.
If we are unable to attend to the problem right away we will ask you to leave the Hearing Aid for repair and will attend to it within one working day.
Families are advised to contact us if possible before bringing the Hearing Aids for repair.
