Arts in Health Toolkit
This arts in health toolkit shares experiences of The Patient Well-being and Art Activity Programme project. The project involves facilitating art activities for adult patients in hospital ward settings at New Cross Hospital and West Park Rehabilitation Hospital in Wolverhampton.

The aim of this toolkit is to provide a training tool for use with our growing team of art volunteers, promoting good practice and sharing the activity resources we have developed in consultation with our patients. It is also intended to provide a practical resource to share good practice with artists and other professionals who are keen to initiate or be involved in similar projects within the hospital setting.

In July 2011 Arts Council England provided our Trust’s Arts in Health Service with a grant to support the development of our project The Patient Well-being and Art Activity Programme and the grant included support for design and publication of this toolkit.

“The art sessions have enabled us to engage patients who have limited comprehension and speech and see them make choices, take control of a task and get enjoyment from it.”
