New Cross Breastfeeding Peer Support Volunteers Celebrates its 10th Anniversary

Date of release: 14 May 2021

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust’s Breastfeeding Peer Support volunteers scheme celebrates its 10th birthday this month.

Over the last decade, many volunteers have helped support mothers on their infant feeding journey by joining the scheme, which is based at New Cross Hospital. These volunteers are women who have breastfed their babies and have gone on to have training to enable them to support other mothers in their community.

  • "To empower women in the new and daunting world of motherhood", Kylie from Stowheath
  • "To make a lasting difference,”" Abby from Tettenhall
  • "To support the best possible start for mothers and their babies," Gaelle from Merridale
  • "To empower as many families as possible to make informed decisions," Emily from Cannock
  • "So every mother has the support to achieve her breastfeeding goals," Sophie from Cannock
  • "To contribute to improving the overall health and well-being of mother and baby," Andrea from Wednesfield
