Date of release: 26 March 2021

The Urgent Treatment Centre and GP Out of Hours service at New Cross Hospital will be provided by The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust (RWT) from 12pm on March 31st.

The service, which is currently provided by Vocare, is available for anyone who has an illness or injury that is not life-threatening but is too urgent to wait for a routine appointment with their GP.

By transferring the facility to RWT, it will ultimately result in a more streamlined process, with patients being seen in a timely manner and by the most appropriate medical professional.

Patients will continue to have access to a team of highly-skilled GPs and specialist nurses, who are experienced at diagnosing and treating a wide range of minor injuries and illnesses. For example, they can treat sprains, burns, bites or stings, assess and treat wounds and request x-rays.

The Urgent Treatment Centre service will carry on being run 24 hours a day, seven days per week and will also offer an out of hours service.

The Out of Hours GP Service operates from 6.30pm until 8am Monday - Friday and all day weekends and bank holidays. Please ring 111 for an appointment.
