Launch of Electronic Appointment System

Date of release: 9 March 2021

Latest News: Launch of Electronic Appointment System

A new app allowing patients easier access to details of their outpatient appointments is being rolled out across The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust (RWT).

The app– called myRWT – will provide patients with their appointment letters online. Signing up is a short and secure sign-up process.

In order to access this service, patients will need to give their mobile phone number to one of our reception or appointments teams.

Once a patient has registered their mobile phone with us, they will receive a text message inviting them to register with the myRWT patient portal via link from their mobile device. The link is specific to the patient and linked to their individual NHS number.

The initial pilot scheme is taking place from today within the Cancer Services team but we are excited to roll out the service across the rest of the Trust over the coming weeks.

The app is accessible via a smartphone, laptop or other smart device.

Gwen Nuttall, chief operation officer, said: “Digital Technology is continually being adapted and utilised in our everyday working life and many patients may already receive electronic reminders from their GPs and/or dentist.

“By launching this app it brings RWT at the forefront of digital technology and by providing easier access to information about their appointments from their mobile phones. It also will reduce the chance of lost letters and confusion about appointment dates and times.”

MyRWT is available to patients who are:-

  • 18 years old and over
  • have a smart device and
  • have registered their personal mobile telephone number with one of the reception or appointments teams.

Please make sure that we have a mobile phone number for you on our system.

Once registered patients will be able to:-

  • see details relating to some of their outpatient appointments
  • view a digital version of some of their appointment letters
  • add these appointments to their personal calendar.

In the future patients who use the portal will be able to opt out of receiving paper versions of some of the appointment correspondence.
