Three wise men and a star – Wolves legend Steve Bull – are teaming up to raise funds for The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust Charity.

Jason Guy, Neil Taylor and Suresh Bawa are to follow Steve Bull on a 14-mile walk from Birmingham Children’s Hospital to New Cross Hospital on New Year’s Eve, aiming to raise £6,000.

The trio, who are all friends of Steve and Wolves supporters, came up with the festive idea after Jason’s 10-week-old daughter Olivia was treated by the Trust’s Neonatal Unit.

Olivia was born prematurely, suffering from a minor heart complication, but is now on her way to making a full recovery.

Jason, Neil and Suresh will dress as the three wise men, walking to New Cross Hospital via canal towpaths.

“The Neonatal team has been absolutely fantastic in their treatment for Olivia, so this is a way for us to give something back,” said Jason, who owns staff recruitment firm Staff Today.

“We wanted to find a new way of fundraising because it’s been very difficult without social gatherings.

“So we came up with this idea and it will also hopefully help us get rid of some of the excesses of Christmas!”

The money raised will be donated to the Steve Bull Foundation and then be split equally three ways, between the Trust, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Promise Dreams.

Jason, 43, from Cannock, Neil, 50, from Shipley near Pattingham and Suresh, 54, from Wightwick, are long-term fundraisers for different charities.

Leanne Bood, fundraising coordinator for the Trust charity said: “This year has been a very tough one for our patients and hardworking staff so it was a wonderful surprise when Jason got in touch to tell us about their challenge.

“Thank you to all those involved helping to raise funds in aid of our Neonatal Unit.  I wish Olivia well in her continued recovery.

“Thank you also to The Steve Bull Foundation for their continued support.  Kirsty and Steve have been amazing throughout the year by providing donations of PPE, comfort items and refreshments for staff.”

People can donate via www.virginmoneygiving.com/Threewisemenandastar and more than £3,000 has been raised already.
