Free TV for Inpatients

Free TV for Inpatients

Date of release: 10 April 2020

Patients in New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton can now watch free bedside television.

Whilst restrictions are in place for visiting patients in our hospitals, and in recognition of the impact this could have on the wellbeing of patients, we have secured an agreement with TV providers Hospedia to give free TV to all inpatients for the next month. We will then review this on a month by month basis.

Patients can also make free outbound calls from their bedside unit to numbers starting 01, 02, 03 and mobiles at all times.

However if you call a patient from a landline or mobile, charges do apply.

David Loughton, chief executive of RWT, said: “We understand how difficult it currently is for patients given the current visiting restrictions.

“These restrictions are in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to protect staff, patients and visitors from becoming seriously ill.

“We are doing all we can to make sure our patients wellbeing is at the forefront of our care.

“This is why for a temporary period we are covering the cost of providing bedside television to all our inpatients. We hope this will help our patients.”
