RWT Midwife Welcomes Beautiful Baby Girl on NHS’s 70th Birthday

Date of release: July 6th 2018

Midwife Hayley and baby Anayah

It may have been the NHS’s 70th birthday on 5th July, but it’s now a day midwife Hayley Kularia will remember forever!

Baby Anayah Lester was born at 9:58am, weighing 6lb 14oz, on Thursday 5th July to proud parents Hayley Kularia and Lewis Lester at New Cross Hospital.

Hayley has worked as a midwife at RWT for nine years, and said she “would not have had her baby anywhere else”.

Hayley said: “I started at New Cross as a midwife nine years ago. I completed my training at Wolverhampton Uni and decided to stick around!

“It’s given me a very different perspective being on the other side – I will come back to work after maternity leave with a real idea of what it’s like to have a baby.

“It all went really well for me, well as well as it can go! It was a lot quicker labour than expected for my first baby.

“My midwife friends Ruth Ella and Linda were there for the birth, along with my partner, and I chose to have a water birth.

“I’m excited, a little bit nervous about being a new mum – we now have all this responsibility,” she said, looking down at little Anayah sleeping contentedly in her arms.
