Date of release: Wednesday 6th May, 2015
An open day is being staged this weekend at New Cross Hospital ahead of the transfer to The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust (RWT) of paediatric services from the former Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust.
From May 18 services will be split between RWT and the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.
Some children with long term conditions will transfer to RWT on this date to continue receiving their care. Out-patient clinics will be held at Cannock Chase Hospital so services can be provided closer to home.
On Saturday May 9 an open day will take place at New Cross for patients and their families as well as GPs, all from the Cannock area. Representatives of neighbouring Clinical Commissioning Groups have also been invited.
New members of the paediatric team, including two experienced paediatric consultants, a doctor, four qualified children's nurses, a play specialist, a healthcare assistant and two administration staff, will also attend.
All visitors will be able to meet key personnel and will be given an escorted tour of paediatric facilities.
Sultan Mahmud, Integration Programme Director for RWT, said: “The open day provides an opportunity for GP’s and patients and families to come along to New Cross and get a feel of the hospital and the facilities and to meet staff. It is an important part of the smooth transition of paediatric services to RWT.”
