The IV resource team at the Royal Wolverhampton NHs Trust is celebrating having inserted its 2000th line – in just three years.
In August 2012 there were no nurses within the Trust who were trained at ultrasound guided line insertion.
The Team have also facilitated the discharge of 341 patients via the OPAT service, both enabling suitable patients receiving iv antibiotics to return to their home environment far sooner, and saving the Trust 7,450 bed days.
A Trust spokesman said: “It is a fantastic achievement by all the staff and is a great example of improvement in patient care.”
