It's time to get arty to help people feel better

Date of release: Friday 27th February, 2015

Fancy having your artwork in pride of place at a state-of-the-art hospital unit?

Well, if you enter the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust's (RWT) fantastic competition 'Inspired by Nature'  your work could go on display at the new Urgent and Emergency  Care Centre due to open at New Cross Hospital in November this year.

The RWT is looking for nature-themed art – which has been shown to help promote a sense of calm for patients – to display on the walls of the new unit.

So if you're an artist or a keen photographer and you've got an eye for what makes a great picture, then get creative, capture the beauty of nature and enter this great competition.

In addition to having their work put on display, those chosen as winners will also be in line for some great prizes.

A spokesperson for The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your artwork to a wide audience, as the Emergency Department has over 90,000 people attending for treatment each year.  The nature themed artworks will be displayed to contribute to creating a healing hospital environment for the benefit of patients.”

Full details of the competition – being run in association with arts promotion agency Axisweb and sponsored by people development group Pertemps – are available at www.royalwolverhamptonhospitals.nhs.uk/artsinhealth/home from where an entry form can also be downloaded.

Entries must be submitted by 5pm on Friday May 8 and remember, your artwork or photograph must meet the criteria outlined in the title of the competition – 'Inspired by Nature'.
