A fruit and veg stall began operating from the New Cross Hospital site in Wolverhampton today, offering more healthy eating options for staff, patients and their friends and families.
The new initiative has seen the RWT team up with Mr Green Grocer, a local business, which will see the fruit and veg market stall operating from the front of the Heart and Lung building on the hospital site from 8am – 5pm, Monday-Friday.
Mr Green Grocer is a small, family run local business, which already operates across the Midlands, and owner Aaron Stancliffe is looking forward to working at the Wolverhampton hospital.
He said:” We are proud to provide an array of fresh fruit & vegetables at a stall located at the New Cross Hospital. We are passionate about fresh produce and wanted to be actively involved in helping the area combat obesity and giving staff, patients and visitors healthier options.
“It is all about providing something healthy and good for you. It is not always easy to get some of your five a day when at work - so this can certainly help.”
David Loughton, Chief Executive at the RWT, (pictured above being served) added: “We already have outlets that provide healthy options but this is taking things another step further. We feel passionately about providing the best healthy options for our patients and staff and we are really excited about this initiative.
“I have bought my whole daily allowance of fruit in one go, so it is really accessible for people and an easy way for a 5 a day.”
