Walking for Health in Wolverhampton - Toddle Waddle Walk

Walking for Health in Wolverhampton - Toddle Waddle Walk

Date of release: Friday 17th October, 2014

Are you a mum, dad, grandparent or carer with a baby or toddler? There is a new free Walking for Health walk just for you that will be taking place around Wolverhampton’s West Park.

We meet every Tuesday at 11:30am at the Albert Road entrance to West Park. Please bring your little ones in buggies or slings, or they can even toddle the walk themselves. Older siblings are also welcome and pregnant women and other parents-to-be too.

The walk has been organised by volunteers for the popular walking scheme Walking for Health in Wolverhampton and NCT.

The walk distance is one lap, walking anti clockwise around the park (one mile). You can choose to do extra afterwards if you want, or join us in the tearoom for a chat and play on the swings or to feed the ducks afterwards.

Amanda Alsop, aged 34, mum to one-year-old Maya age, and a volunteer walk leader said: "I love getting out into the fresh air with my baby and meeting other local parents, all while keeping fit and healthy. The ducks and swings in the park are a big hit with my daughter too."

Hayley Scott, Walking for Health co-ordinator, said: “Walking is a great way of getting fit, reducing stress, meeting people and making friends. The Toddle Waddle walks get you out in the fresh air with a group of friendly people, what better way to get healthier and happier”

The Toddle Waddle walks are in addition to the Walking for Health in Wolverhampton scheme’s programme of weekly walks.

NCT is a charity supporting parents in the first 1,000 days (conception to two years old). It is not necessary to be a member of NCT to participate in the walk. To find out what is happening with NCT please go to: www.facebook.com/nctwolverhampton or www.nct.org.uk/branches/wolverhampton

There is an extra special Halloween walk on 28th October 2014 at 11.20am. Children and adults will be dressing in Halloween costumes as they walk around the park. Please come and join us for some spooky fun, what will you dress up as? A witch who sweeps the leaves aside with his/her broomstick or a ghoulish ghost. Halloween costumes don’t need to be complicated or fancy, they just need to be spooky!
