Date of release: Thursday 8th May, 2014

Champion Walkers who completed over 120 health walks in 2013/14 with the City’s Walking for Health scheme will be presented with a limited edition champion walkers badge on Monday 12th May during a presentation walk around West Park.

In total 197 walkers will be recognised for completing over 120 health walks in 2013/14. The Presentation walk starts at 11am on Monday 12th May from the Chalet Tea Rooms, West Park, off Park Road West, Wolverhampton.

The Walking for Health Scheme is organised by the Wolverhampton Healthy Lifestyle Service, The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.

Hayley Scott, Healthy Lifestyle Locality Manager, said: “Walking is a fantastic way to exercise and we are really pleased to have so many enthusiastic walkers join our free health walks on a regular basis”.

“It's really easy to get started, you don't need any special equipment and best of all it counts towards your recommended amount of physical activity.

“Walking can improve your health, your happiness and, if you join one of our groups, it will give you the chance to explore the outdoors, get to know your local area and meet new people.”
