Wonderful news as Janet Smith, Head of Sustainability at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust has been invited to be a judge as part of the prestigious HSJ Partnership Awards 2022!
This annual event looks to celebrate collaborations and partnerships driving transformation and improving patient outcomes across the NHS. This year's ceremony will take place in London on Thursday, March 24th 2022.
A regular attendee and contributor at HSJ webinars and conferences, Janet was recently invited to put her expertise towards judging entrants in the ‘Environmental Sustainability Project of the Year’ category. To achieve this award, an organisation must demonstrate clear awareness of climate change and impacts on public health, alongside efforts to become ‘greener’ and reduce carbon emissions. Ultimately, the organisation will evidence how they have helped the NHS embark on its Green Plan – net zero by 2040 for direct emissions and net zero by 2045 for emissions it indirect emissions (not directly controlled by the NHS).
Janet said: “I am proud to be judging as part of the upcoming HSJ Partnership Awards. The journey to a greener, climate smart national health service is a journey that all of us have a stake in. I am looking for initiatives that don’t only focus on reducing environmental impact, but also focuses on quality outcomes, patient safety and positive patient experience. Sustainability goes beyond reducing carbon emissions, it is about enhancing the capability of the organisation to ensure that any changes implemented to achieve net zero carbon become business as usual.”
