Visiting arrangements changed

Date of release: 3 April 2023

Visitors won’t need to book a slot before they come into New Cross, Cannock Chase and West Park Hospitals from tomorrow (Tuesday 4 April 2023).

A maximum of two visitors per patient will be welcomed by The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust (RWT) and they can simply turn up to the wards during the visiting hours applicable.

Visiting times will be between 2pm and 8pm for medical wards and surgical wards will be between 1-3pm and 5-7pm.

The surgical wards are:

A Wards - 5, 6, 9, 12, 14
B Wards - 7, 8, 14
D Ward - 7
Hilton Main

For Children’s, Maternity, and ICCU, visiting times may differ and people are advised to check with these wards directly via the hospital switchboard on 01902 307999.

Alison Dowling Head of Patient Experience and Public Involvement at RWT said: “We know people will be pleased to hear that visiting arrangements don’t need to be booked from tomorrow.

“We thank them for their patience and understanding while we have worked to minimise infection risk to all by introducing the necessary booking system. Our patients’ health and wellbeing are our priority, as well as the safety of our staff  and communities, which is why we had to do so.

“But from tomorrow, visitors can simply attend the wards where their loved ones and friends are being cared for.”

Visitors are reminded NOT to attend if a particular ward is closed due to an infection outbreak such as COVID-19 or Norovirus. And they are also asked to stay away if they have COVID-19 symptoms or sickness and diarrhoea noting that these infections can have serious consequences for unwell patients.

Hand gel is available throughout the hospitals and visitors will be supported to wear a face mask if that is their wish.
