NHS Futures: NHS Futures

Get into Hospital Services

The “Get Into Hospital Services” programme provided in partnership with The Princes’ Trust is a four week programme offering people aged 18-30 years, who are unemployed or under-employed, the opportunity improve their employability skills and gain valuable work experience in various roles within a busy working hospital.

Programmes are currently offered in the following areas:

  • Health Care
  • Catering
  • Administration
  • Laboratories
  • Warehousing
  • Portering
  • House Keeping
  • Waste Management

Training sessions during the programme include:

  • Communication
  • Patient/Customer Care
  • Employability – Application forms/Interview Skills/Mock Interview
  • Health & Safety
  • Moving & Handling – (Inanimate or patient dependent on role)
  • Data Protection & Security
  • Dementia Friends
  • Patient Observations & Bed Making

Participants receive support from NHS Futures staff, their named buddy and a Princes Trust Executive throughout the programme. 

On completion of the programme, if participants gain a recommendation from their supervisor, they will be offered the opportunity to apply to join RWT Temporary Staffing Bank, allowing them to undertake paid work on a flexible working pattern.

They are also supported by The Princes Trust for six months following the programme to help them to move into a positive outcome such as applying for permanent roles or re-entering education.
