Nurse/HCA Re-Deployment Training for Medical Wards

Nurse/HCA Re-Deployment Training for Medical Wards

Along with our Senior Sisters/Charge Nurses and Matron’s I’d like to welcome you to Division 2 and say thank you to you for the help and support you will give to the medical wards and the patients during your re-deployment in what we know is a challenging time for everyone both at work and home.

We appreciate you will be working outside what you’re used to and want to assure you that there is plenty of support available to you. The first support we are offering you is training sessions to either refresh or provide you with new knowledge. Our dedicated group of Practice Education Facilitators (PEF’s) are looking forward to working with you and helping you settle and learn about your new working environment. There is also pastoral support available from the Senior Sister/Charge Nurses and Matrons on the wards along with a number of websites which can be found at the bottom of the page.

We hope your experience with us in Division 2 is a positive one, if there is anything that you think we can do better then please let us know.

Best Wishes
Beverley Morgan
Head of Nursing Division 2

Pastoral Support Available

We appreciate that this is a stressful time for everyone but stepping out of your normal place of work can add to this stress. We would like to assure that there is plenty of help and support for you to access.

Firstly we would advise you to speak to the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse of the ward and make them aware of your concerns.

Below is a list of web links that may also be able to help you.

New Freephone Number for 24/7 Mental Health Helpline

People living in the Black Country now have easier access to a specialist mental health helpline with the introduction of a new freephone number.

The NHS mental health crisis helpline is run by Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is open to people of all ages – including children and young people.

Particularly suited to those who feel like they need urgent help, the helpline is manned by specialist mental health staff that will provide advice, support and signposting over the phone.

Existing service users are encouraged to maintain their usual route of contact.

People can access the 24/7 freephone number by calling 0800 008 6516.

Alongside those in crisis, for more common mental health problems such as low mood, depression, anxiety and stress people can self-refer to Healthy Minds / Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services.
