A Walk for Louis
8 September 2020
A big thank you to everyone who completed ‘A Walk for Louis’ which took place on Saturday. To celebrate the 1st anniversary of Louis’ death, supporters started off at Louis’ resting place at St Peter’s Cemetery, walking to New Cross Hospital and then back to Louis.
Pamela Harvey, 43, lost son Louis on September 5 last year after he suffered a series of serious illnesses following his premature birth at just 25 weeks. He was just 52 days old when he passed away on the NNU.
Since losing Louis, Pamela, who lives in Hednesford with husband Tristan, 40, and sons Ashley, 19, and three-year-old Harrison, has dedicated much of her time since to raising money for the unit and staff where he spent all of his short life. Her Facebook page, BECAUSE OF LOUIS, which started in December, has more than 500 followers.
Pamela said: “I am truly overwhelmed with all the support we have been receiving, and through this, we are progressing towards helping those tiny babies who arrive too soon.
“I would also like to say a huge thank you to Nikki Farrington, a Specialist Nurse at New Cross Neonatal, along with all our walkers on Saturday. Without you all, this wouldn't have been the success it was. I am deeply grateful for all your efforts and strength throughout.”
With all their supporter’s donations and sponsors they have raised an impressive amount of £2003.50!!
There's still time to donate - visit Pamela's Just Giving page.
