Work Experience

Work Experience

The Trust recognises that work experience is a way of drawing in our future clinical and non-clinical staff. Work experience at Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust (RWT), which includes Cannock Chase Hospital (CCH), offers a great opportunity to sample a career in the NHS.

The experience of a working environment prior to making a career choice can prove valuable in shaping your long-term future. University courses/job vacancies are increasingly difficult to apply for and many employers now require work experience for a stronger application.

The aim of work experience is to provide the participant with an opportunity to gain experience of working in a healthcare setting, providing an introduction to the world of work, including working conditions and attendance management.

Due to increasing requests from the local community, work experience will be offered on a case by case basis and placement availability

Participants aged 16 years and above;

We offer work experience to participants aged 16 years and above, for a maximum of a one week block, with no availability for long term opportunities. Work experience is for observation purposes only.

Work experience is designed to encourage independence and participants are asked to contact the Work Experience Team directly if they have any further questions. We discourage parents calling/emailing on behalf of the participant for this reason. It is important to emphasise that patient care is priority; therefore the Trust offers limited work experience opportunities.

Participants aged under 16 years;

If you are under the age of 16 and require work experience, we have HealthTec which is an exciting health and social care education facility where learning is related to real life by presenting health situations in realistic simulated environments, using professional equipment in an interactive and hands-on manner.

We hope that after taking part in our work experience programme, you will regard the NHS as an attractive career option.
