Multifaith Chaplaincy Department

Meeting the Spiritual and Pastoral Needs of Patients, Visitors and Staff

  • We offer a friendly face and a listening ear.
  • We are here for everyone, for people of all Faiths and those of no Faith.
  • We seek to provide spiritual and pastoral support, appropriate to the individual needs of patients, staff and visitors.
  • We visit the wards regularly and also hold services in the hospital chapel / prayer room.
  • We are happy to talk about anything and everything.

The Chaplaincy Team

  • Chaplains of various faiths (Christian, Hindu, Muslim and Sikh) are available for spiritual, religious and pastoral support and visit the wards
  • We offer a 24hr / 7 day a week emergency on-call service.
  • We are based in the Chaplaincy office which is situated in location C8 (above renal) at New Cross Hospital but are available to patients and staff across the Trust.
  • Please ask a member of staff to page the on-call chaplain via switchboard if you would like to talk to a chaplain.

Sacred Spaces

New Cross Hospital

  • We hold regular services in the hospital chapel which is situated along the main corridor at location C4.
  • There is also multi faith prayer facility in the Chapel area for patients and visitors use. Prayer Mats and Holy Books are available.
  • There is a separate Multi Faith Prayer Room in Building 12 for staff use only.
  • The Chapel is open every day for private reflection and prayer.

  • Christian Service of Holy Communion: Sunday Morning in the Chapel at 10.00am (location C4).

  • Sikh prayers for Sarbat Da Bhalla: Thursday afternoon at 1.00pm (location C4).

  • Muslim Friday Prayers: weekly in the Multifaith Prayer Room (in Building 12) (Please see Chapel / Prayer Room for exact times)

  • Patients can be escorted to the Chapel / Prayer Facility by volunteers, with ward staff permission.
  • Holy Communion and Prayer Resources can also be brought to the wards.

Cannock Hospital

  • We hold regular services in the hospital chapel (St. Raphael’s Chapel) which is situated on Level One.
  • There is also a multifaith prayer facility on level two for patients and visitors use. Prayer Mats and Holy Books are available.
  • The Chapel is open every day for private reflection and prayer.

  • Christian Service of Holy Communion: Sunday afternoon in the Chapel at 1.45pm

  • Patients can be escorted to the Chapel / Prayer Facility by volunteers, with ward staff permission.
  • Holy Communion & Prayer Resources can also be brought to the wards.

West Park Hospital

  • We have a multi-faith presence at West Park Hospital, available on request. For more details please ask a member of ward staff.
  • Holy Communion and Prayer Resources can also be brought to the wards
